A GLOOMY Joe Royle clutched his car keys and refused to comment on Wigan's prospects in Division One after seeing the Latics win through a Nathan Ellington strike.
The ex-Manchester City manager headed home knowing Ipswich's alarming slide leaves him chewing over an increasing pile of on and off-field problems.
But Wigan boss Paul Jewell had no such worries as he reflected on a great team performance.
Jimmy Bullard, Jason Jarrett and Ian Breckin were awesome for Wigan whose winning margin should have been greater.Jewell said: "We played some good football. My players showed they belong in Division One."
Fine saves from John Filan also helped Wigan who lost defender Steve McMillan with a groin injury.
He could be out for some time but Wigan march on.
A downhearted Royle added: "All I'm prepared to say is Wigan played well. They ran all over us in midfield. We look capable of keeping clean sheets but we are just not scoring."
