WIGAN Athletic boss Paul Jewell is set to swoop for Falkirk star Lee Miller.

But they face competition from Bristol City for the young striker.

West Brom's want-away striker Jason Roberts continues to be linked with Wigan. He could cost around £2m but ideally wants to stay in the Premiership.

Roberts' best friend is Wigan favourite Nathan "Duke Ellington" - they played together at Bristol City. Ellington is expected to be fit for the start of the season after surgery on knee and shoulder injuries.

Meanwhile, a young Latics side won 4-0 at Bradford last night with goals by David Moore (2), Joey Roberts and Jason Jarrett. On trial goalkeeper Gary Walsh played for 70 minutes and has yet to conced a goal after playing against Southport earlier in the week.
