Now Wigan slash their prices too

WIGAN Athletic have joined Manchester City in slashing ticket prices for next season.

Latics chairman Dave Whelan revealed that the maximum price of a matchday ticket at the JJB next term will be é15 - a 20 per cent reduction on what has been demanded of fans this season.

His vow follows his decision last month to cut turnstile prices for Latics' remaining seven home games this season.

Whelan's latest move comes a week after M.E.N. Sport launched its campaign for a fair deal for Premiership fans.

He has pledged his total support for our campaign, insisting prices at the JJB Stadium will come down, whatever division Wigan are playing in next season.

Fans can also look forward to reduced season-ticket prices.

Whelan said: "There is enough money coming into the game through television funds for us at Wigan to lower admission prices to a level that people can afford.

"City and Blackburn have done the same in this area, so we have now done likewise."

Wigan's decision - in the light of a huge increase in TV income next season - follows an announcement by City that they were slashing admission prices for youngsters and freezing on the cost of adult tickets.

Wigan media manager Matt McCann said that the Latics were the first Premiership club to set maximum admission prices at é15. Maximum ticket prices for three of Wigan's remaining home games against Newcastle, Bolton and Spurs have been set at é20 - a reduction of é15 on what were provisional Category A fixtures.

City have not slashed their prices as this article would suggest. City have done some deals but crucially fans between 21 & 64 years old have not had any gesture of goodwill from the Club.

Shame they couldn't extend the same courtesy to us blues when we played at the JJB.

City have slashed ticket prices have they, i missed that one. My season ticket in South Stand is still £350.00, if renewed before March 8th. It's bad enough that we are expected to pay for next seasons ticket with 2 months of the current season still to run, but with all the talk and media coverage of some clubs possibly cutting prices for next season due to the ridiculous amounts of money to be paid to Clubs for just being part of the Premier League from next season then I think City are out of order. The way the crowds are dropping at City, admittedly we did get a large increase in attendances after the move to COMS, but even so a complete re think of the pricing structure for season tickets should have been completed. Now we are not selling out any of our games then there really isn't any need to pay up front for a season card when chances are you may have to miss one or two matches during the season for whatever reason. Once you start missing even one game as a season card holder then then the cost per match increases and it just doesn't seem worth stumping up a lump sum in March when you can easily pick and choose games to attend. An opportunity missed by City here I think and judging by the number of people who are actually saying they won't renew next season then i think there is going to be an even bigger fall in attendances next season.

More City/MUEn spin

Prices at city have not been slashed at all, unless you are just out of school !!!

Same prices as always, as long as you pay well early (without knowing what league you are gonna be in)

Enuf of this tripe City, lets have a bit of honesty for a change

That debacle of a transfer window was bad enuf, so let the mick taking end now eh !!

I agree with T Work. After watching City for over 40 years,I will not be renewing for myself,my wife or my son.
The cost is about £1400.
Due to time changes I will miss at least 3 home matches every season. This means there is no value in having season tickets. All my friends stopped going last season, and while I sit there shivering on a Monday night
