Wigan line up Landzaat

WIGAN Athletic have lined up Dutch midfielder Denny Landzaat to replace playmaker Jimmy Bullard.

Latics football director Bill Green been impressed when checking out the AZ Alkmaar player and now Wigan are ready to offer him a three-year deal.

Landzaat, who began his career at Ajax, is keen to play in the Premiership and Wigan have opened talks with his agent.

Meanwhile, manager Paul Jewell has denied reports that former Liverpool star Danny Murphy will be part of a deal with Spurs that eventually sees Pascal Chimbonda join the Londoners.

Jewell also says there is no interest from Portsmouth in Henri Camara and insists that there has not been an increased offer from Turkish club Besiktas for striker Jason Roberts.

Wigan have again been linked with Colchester midfielder Neil Danns.

Meanwhile Everton have completed the capture of England striker Andrew Johnson in a club record signing.

Jewell had high hopes of landing Johnson last week but the Palace player turned both them and Bolton down to move to Goodison Park for é8.6m, beating the previous high of é6m spent by David Moyes to bring James Beattie from Southampton in 2005.
