Barnsley 1 Wigan Athletic 3

Wigan maintained their promotion push with a thoroughly deserved win at Oakwell.

They were one up inside a minute with a solo goal from former Oakwell favourite Andy Liddell.

Wigan dominated throughout and doubled their lead with a Matt Jackson header.

Wigan were far hungrier, more creative and rarely troubled by a clueless Barnsley side.

Scott Green headed Wigan's third to keep Latics in touch with the pace setters.

Paul Jewell's men were rarely in trouble and gave the look of a team who clearly aimed to be in the promotion shake-up at the end of the season.
