WIGAN captain Arjan de Zeeuw could return to the side for the Premiership clash with United.
De Zeeuw missed Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Chelsea with a knee injury, the first league game this season in which the centre-back had sat on the sidelines.
With Wigan in a spell of four games in 11 days, manager Paul Jewell may again make other changes as he attempts to keep his team fresh.
Meanwhile, Mikael Silvestre is a doubt for the Reds.
According to manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the French defender picked up a "slight knock" during Sunday's draw with Everton, so Wes Brown is standing by for a recall.
Top scorer Ruud van Nistelrooy also returns from suspension, so Louis Saha is likely to find himself back on the substitutes' bench.

Come on Wigan, they might have the bigger club, but you have the biggest heart.
Why is everyone going for the obvious home win, when we've been very unlucky in 3 out of our 4 defeats against, what I believe are better teams. United have to win, we can soak pressure and wait until they get edgy and throw men forward. Then we can counter with pace and power against a crap back four. Just got to hold out until mid second half
Come on wigan the pressure is on man u. Their defence is poor, get roberts running at rio he's garabe. also good set pieces needed, rio is also crap in the air as shaun goater found out two years ago.
I maybe a city fan, but iam a wigan fan tonight!
