Tevez has been suspended by Manchester City for apparently refusing to play against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday.
"You need to remember football is a team game," said Martinez.
"As an individual your success relies on how much you can work and help the team - you will never see an individual benefiting from selfish conduct.
"When you have an individual having a very selfish act you lose the respect of the players more than anything.
"It is very difficult for you to earn that back and that is the biggest problem Carlos is going to have at Manchester City.
"I am sure Manchester City will deal with that situation in a different way to how other clubs would do because money is not an issue and they can make a decision on the football side."

All due respect Roberto, but what's it got to do with you?
Martinez is a well respected manager , and talks a lot of sense , he has obviously been asked this question by the media , and give an intelligent answer , he was the only pundit to defend city on match of the day , a couple of weeks ago , so wind your neck in Fordi
Well said Roberto. I've took a copy of your statement and I'm having pinned to the head of Carlito.
Any football manager has a right to comment on football!
Tevez, take note about how to be a professional.

I rate Martinez.
Good guy. Good opinions,
He isn't poking into our business, someone has poked a microphone under his nose, that's all.
I think all of our players knew how selfish Carlos is in & out of the game but at the time he was the captain and scoring a lot of goals for us and they didnt want to jeopardise our chances for the CLUBS sake. Carlos was never a team player and I even think us fans put that at the back of our minds last season. As has been said if that was a misunderstanding why was Zaba so annoyed? He has learned English and could of sent the message across. Poor attempt by Tevez & his camp to try and say it was nothing big just a misunderstanding. Im sure Sheikh Mansour & Khaldoon will stick by their manager. In Mancini we trust.
(Thank God we got the Sheikh and not the Yank!!!)
