Wigan Ath

Season review: Player ratings

JOHN FILAN: The Latics keeper enjoyed another top season from the reliable Aussie who will eventually be very difficult to replace if he is ever tempted away from the JJB Stadium. 8

NICKY EADEN: Another season of solid displays but the defender is now reaching the end of the line and could well have to be replaced. 6

LEIGHTON BAINES: Just watch this youngster go - a certain big name star of the future who has been the find of the season at left back - a great talent. 9

MATT JACKSON: The ex-Everton and Norwich stalwart was dogged by injury throughout the campaign but played well and shown great experience when deployed in a key defensive role. 7

IAN BRECKIN: Was superb up until Christmas but, sadly, his form dipped after the festive period. However, he never gives anything less than 100 per cent. 8

JASON DE VOS: A few players have given the big man a torrid time this season. He has not been as effective from set pieces and seems certain to move on. 6

JIMMY BULLARD: Talented playmaker who has made his mark on games but needs to start scoring more goals to complement his undoubted natural talent. 8

JASON JARRETT: He has definitely matured and he has a great engine but like Bullard needs to get more goals to really become the finished article. 8

LEE McCULLOCH: Brave, all-action star who always puts his body on the line and you know what you get with big Lee - that's 100 per cent commitment. 7

NATHAN ELLINGTON: Another decent season from the sharp-shooting season from the Duke but one gets the feeling there is surely much more in the tank. 7

JASON ROBERTS: The all-action striker proved to be an excellent buy but he must learn to stay calm - better discipline is called for if costly suspensions are not to be repeated. 7

ANDY LIDDELL: Something of a muted farewell to the Latics legend who was never really able to recapture the glory days of old. 6

NEIL ROBERTS: For sheer bravery he's the tops and he never ever lets Wigan down. 7

ALAN MAHON: It's high time that the loyal Latics fans' saw some Premiership form from the the ex-Blackburn Rovers man. 6

GARY TEALE: Has the ability and pace to frighten defenders - but much more consistency is called for. 7

STEVE McMILLAN: Endured a frustrating season which was again dogged by injury - same old story. 5
