GRAHAM Barrow is in line for a surprise return to Wigan as part of Roberto Martinez's backroom staff.

Barrow, the current assistant manager at non-league Altrincham, is in line to become the new reserve team manager at Wigan.

Barrow was Wigan manager when Martinez joined from Spain as a player.

He helped Martinez settle and they have remained friends ever since and the Spaniard respects his experience at Wigan and reputation as a coach and disciplinarian.
