Wigan: Season player ratings

RENAISSANCE: Titus Bramble has found his form again
STAR MAN

TITUS BRAMBLE: Player of the season by a mile. The big man was at home playing for Steve Bruce and was flawless in some battles with the Premier League's best. 9

CHRIS KIRKLAND: One or two injury scares but he played far more games and was invariably outstanding, consistent and highly impressive in goal. 7

MARIO MELCHIOT: Forged a good partnership on the right with Valencia. His experience and leadership qualities regularly shone through and delighted fans. 7

MAYNOR FIGUEROA: A real find at left-back. Strong, very attack-minded left back, who has never looked back since facing Manchester United in only his second game for the club the previous season. 7

EMMERSON BOYCE: Wigan's Mr Consistency did everything asked of him and more. One doubts there is a more dependable squad member, so totally committed to the Latics' cause. 7

PAUL SCHARNER: Matched Bramble for consistency but should possibly have scored more goals from set-pieces. Generally, though, he did well. 7

ANTONIO VALENCIA: On his day, he had the JJB Stadium buzzing with sublime skill. Old Trafford now beckons for this most naturally gifted winger, who has power and pace to burn. 8

LEE CATTERMOLE: Being banned for five games hurt Cattermole, whose passion and commitment cannot be questioned. Wigan are better with him in midfield. 7

MICHAEL BROWN: The evergreen Brown deserves a medal for tenacity and has been a fine servant but younger blood is now needed in midfield. 6

AMIR ZAKI: The fallen Egyptian hero had the world at his feet but he will now leave with a self-inflicted tarnish to his reputation. He blew his chance to be a legend. 3

BEN WATSON: Came from Crystal Palace and is one for the future. His neat goal against Hull showed what he can do and he could really break through in a big way next term. 7

MIDO: Keen to stay and worth keeping if Latics can boost his fitness levels to guarantee more game time. Gave nothing less than 100 per cent. 6

CHARLES N'ZOGBIA: At long last Latics have a flyer on the left with pace. N'Zogbia should really shine with a full pre-season under his belt. 7

OLIVIER KAPO: Arrived last year with a high expectation but it never really happened for a player who struggled badly to win over the fans and become a regular. 5

TOMASZ KUPIZ: Steve Bruce likes the talented young Pole who is progressing nicely. He's now ready to challenge for the first team. 6

HUGO RODALLEGA: Bruce has unearthed a real gem in the powerful Colombian striker. The goals started flowing at the end of the season and he is a handful for the best - ask NemanjaVidic! 7

RICHARD KINGSON: Another ex-Birmingham player, who got his chance towards the end of the season and showed he's up to the mark when needed. 6.

MIKE POLLITT: Veteran keeper Pollitt will stay on and continue to keep himself in tip-top shape. Excellent club man. 6

DANIEL DE RIDDER: Fans felt short-changed by the Dutchman who never lived up to the hype surrounding his arrival. 5

JASON KOUMAS: The forgotten man of the JJB. He still stars for Wales but is very much a support act at Latics and will probably move on. 4
