Preview: Wigan v Everton

ERIK Edman could go straight into the Wigan side for Sunday’s Barclays Premier League visit of Everton to the JJB Stadium.

Sweden international left-back Edman trained with the Latics today while he waited for confirmation of his £500,000 move from French club Rennes.

Although Steve Bruce yesterday signed another left-back on loan until the end of the season in Honduras international Maynor Figueroa, the Latics are still waiting for international clearance, and with the 24-year-old primarily seen as one for the future.

With Ryan Taylor (knee) and Carlo Nash (broken leg) the only absentees, Bruce has virtually a full squad to choose from.

Striker Andrew Johnson is set to return to Everton’s squad having recovered from the knock he received in training which forced him to miss last week’s victory over Manchester City.

Leon Osman, out since mid-December with a broken toe, could also feature in the squad to travel to the JJB while fellow midfielder Manuel Fernandes is available after completing a six-month loan deal at the weekend.

Forward James McFadden has completed his £5million move to Birmingham while Joseph Yobo, Ayegbeni Yakubu and Steven Pienaar are all away on African Nations Cup duty.
