WIGAN'S out-of-favour central defender Fitz Hall turned down the chance to join Charlton Athletic on loan before the transfer deadline.

Hall is still determined to fight for a first-team place at Wigan, but there is growing interest in him from a number of Championship clubs, with Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday poised to target the former Oldham Athletic centre-half.

Cameroon international Salomon Olembe will make his Wigan debut against Fulham this weekend.

Meanwhile, chairman Dave Whelan's decision to sell his controlling stake in Wigan Warriors has raised questions among Wigan fans over his commitment to Latics.

Whelan is opposed to foreign investment and claims many takeovers have not been in the interests of clubs. He has re- affirmed he has no intention of severing his links with Wigan.
