STOCKPORT striker Luke Beckett played an hour of his comeback game in County reserves' 1-0 defeat by Bury yesterday.

Beckett had not played a competitive game since suffering a cruciate ligament injury last September, so the County staff were relieved to see him come through the Gigg Lane encounter.

Boss Sammy McIlroy, unlikely to risk Beckett in Saturday's relegation battle against Grimsby, said: "Luke looked a wee bit rusty, but the important thing is that there was no reaction to his injury." Tweet
