Adams on trial with County

STOCKPORT County have handed Macclesfield Town full-back Danny Adams a week's trial at Edgeley Park.

The 28-year-old was due to have played for County Reserves against Oldham Athletic last night, but the game at Lambeth Grove was postponed because of a frozen pitch.

Adams had been a regular with the Silkmen until a recent contract dispute, making 169 appearances since his £25,000 move from Altrincham in September 2000. He will be a free agent in the summer after rejecting a new deal reported to be worth £100,000 over 30 months.

Boss Sammy McIlroy said: "I've cleared it with (Macclesfield boss) John Askey. Danny is a good, solid player."

Would Adams be a good signing? Have your say.

Danny Adams, he's a left back isnt he? Used to be a postman down my road, i know that much! Cant seeing him ousting Jackman from that slot, maybe competition for places though. There was a point under Palmer when we didnt have a single full back in the squad! muppet.

We're crying out for a GK and a Striker but the 'real muppet' McIlroy signs a left full back after just signing Jackman. Still, perhaps he intends to play him in goal or up front as a lone striker. Anything is possible with this manager!!!
