Daly told to return

STOCKPORT County have recalled striker Jon Daly in the middle of the second month of his loan spell at Bury.

The Irish Under-21 international, who was due to start for the Shakers against Southend tonight, will now go straight into Sammy McIlroy's squad to play Brighton on Saturday.

McIlroy is hoping that Daly can reproduce some of the form of the end of last season that saw his goals help County avoid relegation.

McIlroy said: "When I arrived at Edgeley Park I didn't really have time to assess Jon.

"He spent a long time away at the World Youth Championships and he also picked up an injury. So I sent him to Bury to get games and he's done that at Gigg Lane.

"We've had him watched regularly and he's done well.

"He trained with us on Monday and he looked sharp which is as I hoped. A sharp Jon Daly could spark us in the vital games ahead."

Daly got sent off on Saturday - straight red card, automatic 3 match ban. So McIlroy immediately calls him back from loan. Another bright move by McIlroy eh? Mind you, he probably doesn't realise. He's even offered Ali Gibb a new contract. Ask yourself, who else connected with Stockport County would do that. The bloke has completely lost the plot. I predict a new ten year for Ellison coming next followed by B#250,000 received from the sale of James Spencer spent on Anthony Williams. The conference beckons I'm afraid.
