Stockport County

Preview: Wycombe Wanderers v Stockport County

COUNTY travel to Wycombe Wanderers for a game that boss Carlton Palmer believes could be crucial to the Hatters' survival in the Second Division.

'There's no doubt this is a massive game for us,' said Palmer, who has been delighted with his young team's performances in the last couple of months.

Stockport presently lie just one place above the four relegation spots.

'I think we need two wins to stay up, and we could do with getting them as soon as possible.'

County beat Wycombe 2-1 at Edgeley Park earlier in the season.

Options for Palmer

This time County are boosted by the return of striker Jon Daly and defender Jim Goodwin, who have been away with the Republic of Ireland Under-21 side.

But it's unlikely that winger Kevin Ellison, who injured his ankle against Brentford last month, will be fit.

Ellison limped out of County Reserves' 2-2 draw at Macclesfield Town on Wednesday afternoon.

Centre-back Gordon Greer, who has signed on loan from Blackburn Rovers for the rest of the season, played his first appearance in a County shirt in that game.

But he's only likely to make the bench tomorrow (Saturday) as cover for the regular defensive pairing of skipper Dave Challinor and Rob Clare.

Last Season: Different divisions.

Key Opponent: Craig Faulconbridge ' goals have been a problem for the Chairboys this season, but the former Wrexham striker has grabbed seven for them.

Prediction: Wycombe 1 Stockport 2
