Stockport County

Preview: Stockport County v Blackpool

STOCKPORT boss Carlton Palmer will not now be bringing in any new faces to bolster County's battle against relegation.

Palmer had been looking to make loan signings to add a bit of experience to his side, but today (Friday) revealed that this was not now going to happen.

'I've told the chairman we will go with what we've got already,' said Palmer, who has seen his side take four points from the last two games.

'Unless there are any serious injuries I feel we've got the makings of a very good side here, which has been proven by our recent performances.

'Work to be done'

'There is still a lot of work to be done, but it was always going to take time.

'Maybe our biggest crime was talking about getting out of this division at the first attempt.

'One of the most pleasing things about the way we've played lately is that we've fought back from a goal down to take a point or even win. We killed the game at Brentford last Saturday, which is something that only comes with experience.'

Palmer is looking to name an unchanged side for tomorrow's visit by Blackpool, having been delighted with the way his team performed in Tuesday night's draw against Wigan.

'We're waiting to see how John Hardiker is after he played so soon after his hernia operation,' added Palmer.

'He was outstanding against Wigan, but understandably he was a little stiff afterwards.

'We want to get at least an-other hour out of him against Blackpool.'

Fitness test

Kevin Ellison will have a fitness test before the game, but he will not usurp Tuesday's goal hero Andy Welsh in the starting line-up.

'I couldn't look Andy Welsh in the face and tell him he wasn't going to play after he did so well against Wigan,' added Palmer.

'It's a big game for us. Any team that thinks they will stay up with 45 or 46 points are going to be mistaken.'

Blackpool will include popular former Stockport skipper Mike Flynn in their line-up.
