Briggs, who scored the winner at Grimsby on Saturday, will lead out the side at Notts County tonight as Stockport look to make it three wins on the spin.
Gannon said: "I think since Keith has taken over the captain's armband he's gone up another level and he's shown the energy, enthusiasm and spirit that we want from the team.
"He's playing a real captain's role at the moment.
"Notts County is going to be an even greater challenge than our last two games. They've ground out some great results and put themselves in a great position so it's another big test for us.
"The problem we'll probably have is raising our energy levels."
County will be again without Michael Raynes and Michael Rose at Meadow Lane. Tweet

It's obviously not long since JG sorted some of the inter-player problems by changing the skipper but at least a point would be enough to say he's got this management decision right in the medium term. At least, as far as I know, he's not reaching for the Beanie toy yet.
Close, but no cigar tonight.
