Stockport County

Bury 0 Torquay 1

THE Shakerés winning run was halted at Gigg Lane by Mickie Evansés 33rd minute goal é the first conceded by Chris Casperés side since August 19th.

Casper unsurprisingly went with the side that had won their last three games in Cup and League.

But Buryés bright start, with David Buchanan looking dangerous down the left, counted for nothing when in the 33rd minute Evan used his strength to win just enough space to head the cross from former Stockport winger Jamie Ward past Kasper Schmeichel from six yards.

Richie Baker came closest to a first half equaliser with a powerful drive that brought a great diving save from Nathan Abbey.

Buchanan smashed the ball over from the edge of the six yard area at the start of the second half. Bury could have gone further behind on the hour when Ward chased the ball over the home defence and slipped the ball just wide of Schmeichelés post.

Within seconds of Jon-Paul Pittman coming on as sub he was played through by Tom Youngs but struck his shot narrowly wide.

And fellow sub Daryl Taylor had a close range effort ruled out for offside.
