To lose at home on the opening day of a new season is of course extremely disappointing, but there wasnét much more the Hatters could have done.

By my reckoning County had 28 shots on or off, to Herefordés 10, and that pretty much sums up how this game went. The home side also dominated the corner count - 10 to four.

However, the result says that Graham Turnerés side made a joyous return to the Football League after nine years away, and Jim Gannon will have been no doubt working on finishing on the training ground on Monday.
