CARLTON Palmer insists Stockport's recent set of results isn't giving him cause for concern.

County have collected just three points from their last five games, including a 4-1 home defeat in last Saturday's Cheshire derby with Crewe.

But Palmer says: "People are being impatient. We've been performing well.

"It wasn't a 4-1 game against Crewe, we should have beaten Gillingham, we should have beaten Luton and we deserved a draw at Tranmere.

"It's a young team and Rome wasn't built in a day. The club has come a million miles in the last eight months and I think the fans have been treated to some good football."

Two of Palmer's prospects, Jon Daly and Jim Goodwin, were in the Republic of Ireland's side for their Under-21 international against Switzerland last night.

Daly got his chance with team mate Ben Burgess out injured while Goodwin skippered the team. But he and Irish skipper Goodwin finished on the losing side as the Swiss came from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

On the injury front, Martin Pemberton's thigh injury is a worry and he is doubtful for Saturday's testing trip to Wigan Athletic.
