COUNTY defender James Tunnicliffe signed his first professional football contract last week.

The 17-year-old, who had trials at Liverpool and Southampton last season, has agreed a deal with the Edgeley Park outfit until 2008.

éItés brilliant,é said Tunnicliffe. éIéve been waiting for a long time but weéve had quite a bit to sort out and now Iém just happy that Iéve signed.

éIéve signed for two years which Iém really pleased about because it obviously gives me a lot more security than a one-year deal does.

éIf I can keep doing what I do and get a place in the team then hopefully I can extend that. Ités right for me to be here at the moment and, since Jimés come in, the club has really gone in the right direction.

éEverythingés much more organised and the training is a lot better as well, which is definitely down to Jim and Peter.é
