STOCKPORT County have signed Oldham Athletic defender Gareth Owen on a season-long loan.

The 23-year-old central defender, who joined the Latics from Stoke City in a é50,000 deal in May 2005, has made 45 appearances for the Boundary Park club.

Owen had a mixed time last season due to injuries and falling out of favour with previous Latics manager Ronnie Moore.

He is Countys third summer signing following the arrival of Tony Dinning from Port Vale and former Yeovil full back Michael Rose.
