Stockport County

Good health

WITH the wasted trip to Torquay now behind County boss Jim Gannon, ités all eyes on this Saturdayés home clash against Bury when he should have a full-strength squad available.

The postponement at Plainmoor at least gives extra time for one or two injury niggles to clear up, and after last weekés captures of goalkeeper Ben Smith and midfielder Kevin OéConnor, Gannon now faces a selection headache going into the crunch game against Chris Casperés Shakers.

Recent injury victims Matt Hamshaw, Michael Raynes, Keith Briggs, Mickael Wolski, Danny Boshell, Harpal Singh and David Beharall are all back in training this week, giving Gannon a boost as County bid to extend their winning streak to four games.

Gannon said: "Ités a good-looking derby game on Saturday so it will be tough, but the squad has been buoyed by new signings recently and everyone is working hard.

"Thereés a great culture among the boys, theyéve really been responding of late and thereés a great tempo in training.

"Thankfully Iéve now got a lot of options in a lot of areas, all round the squad is looking very healthy at the moment.

"Thereés a good buzz both inside and outside the club, but the players in particular are being very competitive right now and thatés good news for me."

Having beaten Bury away, Oxford and Macclesfield, County are looking to make further strides away from the League Two drop zone on Saturday by beating another of their rivals down at the bottom.

However, Bury will arrive at Edgeley Park in improved spirits having secured their first win in seven games last Saturday when beating Rochdale 2-1.

Meanwhile, the case against Chester Cityés Sean Hessey following the alleged biting on County striker Liam Dickinson in the game at the Saunders Honda Stadium in February is still ongoing.

Gannon said: "The FA have requested more evidence from us, including photographic evidence, so we have provided them with that."

  • COUNTYéS youth team skipper Ashley Crank has moved to UniBond League neighbours Woodley Sports on loan until the end of the season.

Gannon said: "Weéve had a few requests from other clubs about taking some of our younger lads on loan.

"I feel this will be a good move for Ashley, young players are just looking to play games at an early stage in their career."
