STOCKPORT County striker Liam Dickinson has signed an extension to his contract that will keep him at Edgeley Park until the end of the 2007-08 season.
The 20-year-old has been a revelation since signing on a short-term deal from Woodley Sports just before Christmas. He has since scored six crucial goals as County continue their charge up the League Two table.
Speculation has been mounting that Premiership Wigan Athletic and a number of Championship clubs were monitoring Dickinson's progress, but the giant front-man had no hesitation in pledging his future to the Hatters.
Speaking to stockportcounty.com, he said: "I was aware of interest from other clubs, but I'm happy where I am. The club offered me a new two-year deal and I signed it straight away.
"My main aim now is to stay in the team, carry on scoring, and help County move further and further up the table."
County's assistant manager Peter Ward added: "It's great news for the club and the fans that Liam has decided to stick with County. He's made the step up really well.
"He's still got a lot of hard work to do, but he's eager and willing to learn."
Meanwhile, it's loan transfer deadline tomorrow [Thurs] at 5pm, and Ward admitted yesterday that the club could well make an addition or two to the squad before Saturday's League Two trip to Torquay United.
"There's nothing definite been agreed yet," said Ward. "But we have had discussions with a couple of players.
"The club has made some money available for us to continue strengthening the squad, but of course we need to bring in the right players for the right positions.
"We have a few people in mind though."
County snapped up midfielder Jason Taylor on loan from Oldham Athletic at the end of last week, and defender Aidan Collins from Ipswich Town on a similar deal.
Both made their debuts in Saturday's win over Macclesfield.
County will head off to Torquay on Friday with a near full strength squad, and full of confidence thanks to three wins on the spin.
Defender Michael Raynes (hamstring injury) may well be available after another run-out with the youth team today, while Matt Hamshaw (foot), Rob Clare (ankle), Harpal Singh (shoulder) and David Beharall (illness) have all trained this week.
Midfielder Mickael Wolski could well be out for another week or two, however, after spraining an ankle last week.
Ward added: "It's another big game for us on Saturday, they all are at this stage. Torquay have responded well since Ian Atkins joined manager John Cornforth.
"But it's all about us and if we keep piling up the points as we have been doing then we'll be okay."

Great stuff. The lads been magnificent since he came, and has put a lot of seasoned proffesionals to shame with his commitment. Lets hope he's wearing the blue of County for a long while, but at least if he does go in the near future we will get a bit of cash for him. Keep up the good work Liam, your contribution to the team has been fantastic!
I hope we can keep Ward as well. Early days but he looks OK.
