Hamshaw gets the County vote

COCA-COLA Championship Player of the Year Phil Jagielka reckons he will face patter not plaudits from his Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock when the midfielder returns to Bramall Lane clutching the award he received at Sunday's inaugural 'Football League Awards incorporating FourFourTwo's Top 50 Football League Players' evening.

Twenty-three-year-old Jagielka, a player who came through the Sheffield United youth ranks, collected the top award during a gala evening at The London Hilton on Park Lane.

And like Jagielka, League One and League Two Players of the Year Lee Trundle and Karl Hawley - both of them prolific goalscorers - are also hoping to help their respective clubs Swansea City and Carlisle United to gain promotion.

No County players made it into the top 50 players, but skipper Matt Hamshaw was named as the club's best player so far this season.

Preston North End's highly-rated former Bury striker David Nugent, who has come through some difficult times with injury and illness to become an England Under-21 international, received The Football League Young Player of the Year award.
