Stockport County

Barlow so upset to be leaving

VETERAN striker Stuart Barlow made one last visit to Edgeley Park last week, and he took time out to talk to County TV about his big disappointment over leaving Stockport County.

The former Tranmere Rovers, Wigan Athletic, Oldham Athletic and Everton front-man, who scored 16 goals in 72 County appearances, said: 'Not being offered a contract at Stockport has ripped the heart out of me because I thought on the way I've been around the club over the last couple of years I would be offered something.

'It's extremely disappointing as I would have loved to have stayed, and I actually stated in deadline week that I wanted to finish my football career at this club because I love it and I love everything about it.

'In fact I'd like to offer a big thanks to the fans who have been magnificent to me, on and off the park.

'I know we've had a bad season but I wanted to be part of the new Stockport revolution getting us back up into the higher divisions.

'Maybe in the future, as a coach or a manager, I'll be back, who knows?'
