A stoppage-time header from Damian Spencer condemned ten-man Stockport County to a heartbreaking defeat at the EBB Stadium.
The turning point came midway through the second half when left back Alan Goodall was sent off after two quickfire bookings.
It was a largely drab first half with defences on top, although County did carve out a couple of chances.
Midway through the first half Anthony Elding got on the end of an exquisite cross from Adam Griffin, but the recalled front man couldn’t direct his header on target.
The best chance of the half fell to Matt Paterson on 31 minutes as he flicked at Paul Turnbull’s header, but the effort lacked pace and Jamie Young made a comfortable save.
Shot-shy Aldershot failed to trouble County keeper Ian McLoughlin in the first half, but once County went down to ten men on 66 minutes the home side grew in confidence.
The lively Danny Hylton forced an excellent save out of Ian McLoughlin and County looked to be hanging on until the 93rd minute when Spencer's header saw the County defence breached for the first time in almost four hours of football.
But County will rue a missed opportunity in the 89th minute when Elding opted to nod the ball back for James Wallace with the goal at his mercy.
The Hatters left Hampshire with their pride intact, but it was a cruel way to lose any game.
What is your verdict on the action? Have your say.

A game devoid of action and atmosphere,it was dreadful to watch, and Aldershot Town were equally guilty with their kick and rush tactics.Hard luck,County, you tried hard, but it was a rotten game.
I can't believe it, do we ever NOT get a man sent off? Is it just me or are "sending offs" up all across the leagues? It pretty much decides the game as a rule and personally I think many of them today are not for serious enough offences to decide a game with the sending off. Sending offs should be reserved for fouls when a player is, or could be, seriously injured. The rest is just nonsense. Bookings with suspensions on a sliding scale every third booking is more than enough punishment for petty fouls, handballs, DIVING, etc.
its over i can see Roy Orbison singing the song now ,Rubbish and i mean grade A rubbish
