Kevan’s vision for County

CHESHIRE Sport chief executive Niels de Vos has announced the appointment of Kevan Taylor as managing director of Stockport County Football Club.

Explaining the thinking behind the move, de Vos said: "Kevan's appointment is an essential element within our vision for County.

"Over the past few months we have been researching fans and stakeholder perceptions of the club, and what has come across loud and clear is that some people felt County was losing an element of its unique identity and status within the Cheshire Sport set-up.

"Bringing Kevan in as managing director will give the football club a dedicated professional, responsible for the day-to-day running of the club, working alongside the board, management, players, staff and fans as Cheshire Sport continue the process of revitalising County as a vibrant, community-based football club.

"Kevan is one of owner Brian Kennedy's most trusted advisors and I am delighted that Brian has agreed to let him join County full time - it demonstrates once again our determination to build a club based on appointing a strong off-field structure to support success on the field."

Commenting on his appointment, Kevan added: "I am proud and delighted to have been given this opportunity.

"County are a great club and should be in a position to prosper.

"Unfortunately, the club has been in something of a decline in recent years and we must reverse that decline by bringing back a positive energy around the club.

"The recent departures of two established senior managers from County (Company Secretary Gary Glendenning and Commercial Manager Steve Bellis) has left a void that Cheshire Sport have moved quickly to fill with my appointment.

"While results on the field are very disappointing at the moment - and turning that around is a massive priority for everyone at the club - the fact remains that following the deal with Cheshire Sport, County have the potential to create a strong business model.

"The sharing of stadium costs and professional expertise through Cheshire Sport means that the aim of a self-sufficient club is genuinely realistic for County, and I will be dedicated to ensuring that we deliver that vision while delivering playing success at the highest possible level."

Mr Taylor was formally Cheshire Sport's Finance Director, and has also held the same position at Brian Kennedy's company Latium.
