COUNTY boss Gary Ablett has outlined to his players in no uncertain terms the importance of tomorrow's FA Cup second round tie.

Stockport welcome Torquay United to Edgeley Park on the back of six straight league defeats, but Ablett says the tie offers more than just a chance to break that unwanted run.

"It's a very big game for us, both in terms of getting a win under our belts and the financial reward from getting through to the next round," said the Hatters manager.

"We've got a great chance to get into the hat for the third round and maybe draw one of the big boys.

"And if that happens, the money we would make might see us right for the foreseeable future.

"But we'll approach the game in the same way that we approached the Tooting game and hopefully, if we put in a performance similar to the one we gave against Colchester United on Tuesday, then we will do enough to win the game.

"Colchester are pushing for promotion in the league but except for the first 15 minutes, when we didn't really compete physically, we were the better team and they couldn't get the ball off us.

"We're second from bottom and the league table doesn't lie, but I don't think there has been any team that has been that much better than us."

Ablett should welcome striker Nicholas Bignall back into the squad after he was ruled out of the last two games with a hamstring injury.

Oli Johnson is also available after recovering from a calf problem.

However, David Poole, who was an unused substitute against Colchester because of a virus, is a doubt, while the Hatters are still waiting to hear whether Bristol City manager Gary Johnson will allow on-loan Chris Ribeiro to play.

Torquay - who sit just one place above the relegation zone in League Two - have only won once in their last 10 visits to Edgeley Park.

An Adam Le Fondre goal was enough to give County a 1-0 win on their last visit in October 2006.
