Yeovil 2 Stockport 2

BRAVE Carl Baker paid tribute to his late brother Michael by bagging a brace on an emotional afternoon at Yeovil Town.

Baker asked to play at Huish Park despite older brother Michael losing his battle against leukaemia this week, and the County hero opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 19 minutes.

Every player joined in the goal celebration as Baker ran to the bench and raised a shirt specially made in his brother's honour.

Yeovil were reduced to ten men, with keeper Alex McCarthy red-carded, but the Glovers responded well and levelled through Gavin Tomlin.

But on the stroke of half-time Baker crashed home his ninth goal of  the season, unleashing a powerful drive from the edge of the box.

But the Hatters couldn?t build on Baker?s brilliance and the Glovers hit back again midway through the second half, when Ryan Mason's diagonal ball picked out sub Sam Williams, and the former Villa man beat Owain fon Williams at his near post.

County failed to make the extra man count and had to survive a few nervy moments in the latter stages as Tomlin and Mason both went close.

But in the end, the Hatters had to settle for a point, and there wasn't a dry eye in the ground as Baker went over to the away end on the final whistle to receive a sympathy card signed by every one of  the travelling fans.

How can the people who decide the short-list for player of the month, leave out a midfielder who has now grabbed 9 goals including two away hat-tricks. Carl Baker will be the driving force in keeping county in a solid mid table position this season.
