County takeover on hold

THE proposed takeover of Stockport by Jim Melrose has not been finalised and the former City man is still waiting for the green-light from Edgeley Park owners Sale Sharks.

But with just eight days to go before the players are due to report back for the start of pre-season training, the Hatters still have no board, no manager, no ground and a depleted squad.

As it stands, the first team do not even have a kit to play in next season after last season's strip was auctioned off.

It is understood that, once he is confirmed as the new owner, Melrose will try to tempt former boss Jim Gannon back into the Edgeley Park hot-seat.

I dont think Sale have any interest in Stockport County continuing to exist. This is bad for Stockport and bad for Edgeley. Stockport County are from Stockport.

I dread to think of the back lash if Sharks ruin this for County and Stockport.

Why would anyone sell off their kit without replacing it first, not as if the sponsers have changed?

LT4 - Totally agree with you. Everyone knows what (or who) the stumbling block is and the sooner we rid ourselves of him the better.

My understanding is that all has been agreed but needs to have a creditors agreement before formalise the deal. The meeting is already scheduled for the first week in July, then hopefully full steam after that.

If the new owners dont get an agreement from unsecured creditors to accept their offer, then they will be faced with a 15 point penalty at the start of next season, so thats why it is being done carefully and properly, I realise people are anxious to see the team back and under Jim's leadership, but we need to let events take their course for a few more weeks.

Its obvious who the problem is.
Mr Kennedy wants to sell the ground and do a ground share so he has the monies from EP and at no cost
moves in elsewhere. Nice bit of business, but not for County.
Trust him at your peril.
Good luck to the Melrose group but you have problems.

aunty_shez. Who originally sold out? County did. Who said to CS and Co; leave the football to us? The County fans did. Who made a right mess of running the club? The supporters trust who reckoned they could do a far better and create a more sustainable club when they took over the football side of things. Who is County's largest creditor? CS. It is no wonder that in the negotiaions that they are looking at the future stability of the future tenants.

Looks like the end of our great club!!!!!!
Thank you Mr Kennedy for what you haven't done. No ground, no manager,no players, and now no Football club. You certainly have made a big difference. 2 more players gone, who next? RIP
