County's front men love playing alongside the 6ft 5in hitman - and it is easy to see why.
"The other players know I'll take all the bruising and all the bangs and I'm good at setting goals up," said the giant McNeil.
"That's why everyone says they like to play alongside me.
"But I'm glad the players have said that."
McNeil once again showed his ability to turn games when he came on as sub against Millwall on Saturday, helping County come back from two-down to earn a draw.
His goal helped set up a grandstand finish and he would love to add to his tally against Cheltenham at Edgeley Park tonight.
"I think that was my tenth goal in 30-odd appearances and I'm pleased with that," he said. "When I was in semi-pro I always had about a one-in-three ratio."
McNeil was due to start alongside Chris O'Grady in County's forward line on Saturday, but a back problem exacerbated while doing weights meant that he was put on the bench as a precaution.
"My aim is to try to stay fit, which is always my aim, but daft little things were happening," he added. "To just keep playing and keep getting the goals, I'll be chuffed with that."
Difficult
County boss Jim Gannon was delighted with the response he and his team have been getting from the Edgeley Park crowd in an extremely difficult time for the impoverished club.
"I'm thankful to the fans for the respect to myself, my staff and the players for the efforts they put in continually," said Gannon.
"Maybe I am going above and beyond the call of duty, but I will give everything I've got. If I'm asked to make sacrifices I will, if I'm asked to work harder I will.
"We all want this club to be in existence and we all want this club to be successful and I'll work endlessly for that."
Gannon is conscious of not placing any extra pressure on his players who face the second of five games in 15 days tonight.
"All we'll be looking to do is put on a sterling performance, raise the tempo and raise the atmosphere in the ground just for that 90 minutes," he said.
"It's not just the young lads, some of the older lads are finding it hard to get a run without injury or without the potential of injury. But I've no doubt with the squad we have that we can put out a capable team week in week out barring any more injuries."
Skipper Michael Raynes is a doubt again after missing Saturday's game with a thigh strain.
