Under Gannon's stewardship, Stockport have risen from the bottom of the Football League to play-off candidates.
And having just missed a top-seven finish last term, there's every reason to believe it can be attained next May.
There have been no wholesale changes in playing personnel as Gannon looks for continuity.
Off the field, County have struck a major new sponsorship deal with Just Search.
And season tickets sales have produced a club record in League Two.
"We have 21 contracted players and the resources to strengthen on that," said the County boss.
"The position is healthy. There is a good profile to the players we have at the club - they are young and athletic.
"They have gained a lot of experience from last season that will stand them in good stead.
"It is looking good. But we need to hit the ground running this year.
"We have the squad this time and have every reason to be optimistic and confident that the first eight games we play will be better than the first eight games of last season."
Ashley Williams, 22, has been appointed captain in succession to Tony Dinning, further indication Gannon has faith in his youngsters.
"Ashley showed his loyalty and commitment to the team last year which is one of the virtues you want from a captain.
"It's a great measure of respect for him as a player but also as a person."
ONE TO WATCH: Gary Dicker - Jim Gannon returned to his native Ireland to snap up the 21-year-old midfielder. Six months on loan at Birmingham have helped the Dubliner's soccer education.
IN: Chris Adamson (from Sheffield Wednesday), Gary Dicker (from UCD), Paul Tierney (from Blackpool), Matty McNeill (from Macclesfield), Adam Legzdins (from Birmingham), Gareth Owen (from Oldham).
OUT: Tes Bramble (to Stevenage), Ryan Crowther (to Liverpool), Adam Le Fondre (to Rochdale), James Spencer (to Rochdale), Damien Allen (released), Michael Malcolm (to Dagenham).

It's a long season and we are still building (what team isn't constantly striving to improve?), but County are certainly worth a flutter at the bookies for promotion and/or champs at the odds on offer.
Phiul B^)
I'm always hopeful at the start of a season but its not how you start its how you finish, ie Bristol R, we peaked too soon. Just a thought I'm still not happy about the keeper situation it has surprised me that Jimbo couldn't find somebody better than who we've got,he used the phrase 'able or capable' for the two we've got, but from what I've seen of them surely he could have got better. Lets hope for a win on Sat as its been quite a few seasons since we won our opening game, a word of caution I see Michael Malcolm has signed for Dagenham. Up the County.
Michael Malcolm money on he scores sat, but we will still win 2-1, a good season in front of us I feel, but would be nice too see the place full again. up the County!
