Stockport County

Le Fondre talks continue

ROCHDALE will have to up their bid considerably if they are to capture their top summer target Adam Le Fondre.

Dale boss Keith Hill has so far put in three bids for the 20-year-old Stockport County striker, who scored four times in seven games during a loan spell at Spotland last season.

But County boss Jim Gannon is not looking to let Le Fondre go cheaply.

Gannon said: "For such a young player Alfie has a fantastic goalscoring record and I know Rochdale were impressed with him when he went there.

"I've spoken to their management and made it quite clear how we value Alfie and also what we felt what would happen for him this season with us.

"I made it clear that if they wanted to purchase him there would have to be a considerable amount of money involved.

"I gave them the figure and they've put in offers but nowhere near the valuation we've put on the player.

"Something may yet happen with Rochdale and if it's good for the this club and Alfie we will allow it to happen."

Hill, meanwhile, is prepared to take his time in pursuit of Le Fondre, who could be the second County player following goalkeeper James Spencer to make the short journey from Edgeley Park to Spotland.

The Rochdale boss said: "Adam Le Fondre is a proven goalscorer. We will try our best to recruit him but we have to be patient."

What do you think of Le Fondre? Have your say.

I have always been a fan of Le Fondre, i think he gives 110% effort for the team everytime he plays. Ill be sad to see him go if he decides Stockport is not for him but then again im sure not many of us would wait around keeping the subs bench warm for most of the match.

It hink Hill lives in cloud cuckoo land!
LeFondre is a proven goalscorer at this level and under contract at County. yet he expects County to let him go for a far lower price than LeFondres market value!
He says LeFondre is his top target and rates him highly but wont pay up!
I think County should put this farce to bed and tell Hill to put up or shut up!

If one kind of striker isn't having much joy against a defence then it's desirable to be able to throw a different kind of striker on who might expose weaknesses. Alf is definitely a different option for JG but it is unfortunate for him that in Div.2 big strong strikers who can do a bit of banging and crashing (and play a bit) are more often the order of the day.
Ironically if Alf did leave and County went up, they would doubtless be in need of finesse player(s) like him again and definitely if they were to reach the Championship again.

agree with Browny, Jim Gannon talks about aiming to get back to the Championship in 5 years time, well LeFondre is the sort of skillful player which will do well in a more cultured enviroment of a higher division.
Bit daft to ditch him now when, if we get promotion, is exactly the type of striker which will be a asset at the higher standard!

what happens everytime we sell a striker?they always score against us, its a fact.
if we sell him we should all put money on right away for him to score,I'm not a big alfi fan,but the kid can score and if he don't want to go don't sell him, we need players that want to play for Stockport County.
