Macauley fitness boost

ROCHDALE have been boosted by the news that defender Sean Macauley could be fit to return to the team for Saturday's clash with Darlington.

The 29-year-old defender has resumed light training after having a cyst removed from his ankle and is likely to be in the squad for the clash with Darlington.

And his return is sure to be a massive boost for manager John Hollins as he looks for a quick recovery after Monday's disappointing defeat to Torquay.

Macauley last played in the 5-4 home victory against York City on February 5 and has played 45 times in total for Dale since arriving on a free transfer from Scunthorpe in February 2000.
