Rochdale manager John Hollins kept his promise to the home fans by producing a much more positive performance and with it picked up his first home win as Rochdale boss.
Rochdale controlled the game virtually from the off but it took them 39 minutes to break through a hesitant Swansea rearguard. Man of the match Michael Oliver fired home from the edge of the box and just before the break Swansea defender Neil Sharp scored an own goal to double Rochdale's lead.
After the break Rochdale continued to press but Welsh International keeper Roger Freestone kept the scoreline respectable for the visitors with a series of good saves.
