Oldham's League complaint

OLDHAM have complained to the Football League about Tranmere's fixture list.

Rovers - one of Oldham's Second Division promotion rivals - secured a home win on Tuesday night against a Peterborough side playing their third game in four days and their second in 24 hours.

Oldham played in the league on Saturday and in an FA Cup replay on Monday night. They asked Tranmere for a new date for the league clash but their request was turned down for policing reasons and now Peterborough boss Barry Fry has written to all the clubs in the division asking for their support.

Oldham's chief executive Alan Hardy said: ''We supported Peterborough because we felt it brought into question the integrity of the competition.''

But after looking at all possible options, the Football League agreed that the Tranmere game should go ahead because the Wirral outfit had already lost four league and cup games to the weather.
