Euro 2004 draw

England have been handed a dream draw in the Euro 2004 qualifiers.

Ranked only among the second seeds, they could have been drawn in a group with France, Holland or Italy as well as testing lower-ranked opposition.

However, Turkey are the top seed in their group, while the other teams competing for the one guaranteed qualifying place will be Slovakia, Macedonia and Liechtenstein.

Scotland will have to overcome Germany if they are to qualify, while Wales and the Republic of Ireland face tests against Italy and Russia.

Northern Ireland will be unfancied in a group that includes Spain and the Ukraine.

Runners-up in the groups will go into to-legged Playoffs for a place in the Finals, while Portugal qualify as the host nation..
