Barrow boost for Bury

Former Chester and Wigan manager Graham Barrow has been brought in to work alongside Shakers boss Andy Preece as first team coach.

''It's great to be back in football but I just wish the circumstances could be a little better,'' says Barrow whose knowledge of the lower leagues and Nationwide Conference is second to none.

''Given the circumstances of the club Andy has done a great job since he took charge. But maybe he needs a bit of help and guidance that Billy Ayre gave him before his illness.

''It's not going to be easy but there is a fair bit of talent at the club and we will give it our best shot.

''Games have been a lot closer than results suggest apart from the Oldham match. But the second division is a tough league and I think there is a big difference between the second and third divisions.

''There are a number of young players at Bury who perhaps need helping along at the moment.''

Barrow, out of work since surprisingly being sacked by Chester during the summer, will be alongside Preece for the first time when Bury travel to Reading tomorrow. They are bidding to halt a run of nine successive defeats.

Will the appointment of Graham Barrow give Andy Preece a boost in getting the best out of the Shakers squad. Let us know your views
