Dale admit blocking reduced admission

Rochdale's chief executive Francis Collins has admitted that his Spotland side blocked Huddersfield’s attempts to reduce ticket prices for Tuesday's cup clash between the sides.

The Terriers had hoped to cut prices by up to 50 per cent as they feared a small turn out for Tuesday night's game at the McAlpine Stadium.

But Dale were unwilling to change, fearing it could reduce their share of the gate receipts.

As a result, tickets remain at £12 for adults and £5 for children.

Collins said the decision had been taken for purely financial reasons and that he didn't think reducing admission prices would increase the aggregate income.

There will be no home game for Dale, with the League Cup being a one-leg affair that sees all matches settled on the night.
