Rebels sign Rudd

FC United have signed record-breaking goalscorer Stuart Rudd - and he comes with a glowing reference from Ian Rush!

The Rebels, gearing up for life in the North West Counties first division after gaining promotion at the first time of asking, have picked up Rudd, who hit 47 goals for Skelmersdale last season.

Rudd caught the eye of legendary Liverpool and Wales striker Rush when he was a trainee with his home-town club Wigan.

Rush told him: "You will never be a great goalscorer, but you will be a scorer of great goals."

FC manager Karl Marginson believes Rudd will give his side extra momentum as they look for a second successive promotion.

"We scored 111 goals last season and not one of our players got 20, which is a good thing in many ways," he said.

"But in the last five seasons Stuart has not scored less than 35. He scores different types of goals, like a poor man's Alan Shearer, because he is good in the air, leads the line well, and gets them from two yards and 35 yards."

United will be holding trials for their youth and reserve teams in south Manchester next month. Players who want to be considered should apply via the club's website at www.fc-utd.co.uk. The trials will take place on June 24 for (16 to 18-year-olds) and June 25 (19 to 23-year-olds).

Well done Karl! Stuart Rudd sounds like just the kind of player we need if we are to have another crack at promotion and have a decent cup run. He also comes with a ready made chant Rudd Rudd Rudd Rudd Rudd

Stuart Rudd has a fantastic record in the NWCFL he has been very consistent for the last 5 years. He had the chance to play in the Unibond next season but he's chosen to play for us instead. Can't wait to see him play.

FC fans should be delighted with the acquisition of Stuart Rudd. Let's hope he stays injury free and continues his incredible scoring rate.

What day can I show up for a tryout? I am over 40 and weigh in at 18 stones.

Hot off the press I can reveal progress at FC Uniteds pre season training camp. http://www.fc-lokomotive.de/0506/130506fan.php?13 . Looks like its going to be another heavy season.

We've also signed Tony Hallam from Skelmersdale Utd. He's a tough tackling centre half that scores plenty form set pieces as well. He got a hatrick of headers past Atherton LR last season. Both these players could have been playing in the Unibond next season and we are very lucky to have them, they will certainly ad an edge and give us plenty of competition for places. Well done Margy!

Hey looks good, even though he might not be Rooney but tbh who cares, Had enough of UTD ive been a red for years but tbh I live in Coventry and in the office 14 out of the 16 people who work here are utd fans, which is a bit naff seen as half of them haven't even been past stoke!
I want to support a real manchester team with the passion I once followed UTD when I was a season ticket holder!

Manchester UTD = Money FC Untied = Passion

Anouther fan on board lads, keep knocking them goals in and do us proud ... mayb one day we would have a real mcr derby again - City vs FC Utd.

I will deffo be doen in Bury to watch your games next year

Why hasn't FC United of Bury signed ME yet?

I may be 63 but I think I still have something to offer FC United. I can run a 100 yards in 5 minutes without spilling a pint of beer and I weigh in at a sylph like 55 stone. I am also electric over 1 yard. Gissa a game Margy.

TMUF - Wayne Rooney wouldnt fit in at FC United. If FC United had eleven players who were as talented as Wayne the matches would almost be a forgone conclusion. I think we all like to win, but to win say 10-0 every game would be boring. We only need players who play at non-league level. As we move up the divisions we need players who can do us a job at those levels. As a player Stuart Rudd fits that that criteria with proven ability in NWCFL division one. In that respect he is a better signing. As for how the mighty have fallen, you cant keep a good fan down and time will prove that to be the case. FC United will be in the football league within a decade.

Never seen a pub team attract 3000+ fans before, think its about time the jokes of this stature came to end... if fc utd ended up in the footbal leauge in 10 years time maybe challenging the FA cup maybe would you still call them a pub team??

Leon perhaps when FC get around to acquiring their new ground they could give some serious consideration to naming it the Bierhalle. It fits with the image that FC are carefully cultivating for themselves.

I think we need quality like Riquelme or Gattuso... and I think we should focus on the League.
!!!OOPS!!!! I am visiting the FC site.... hahahaha..
you are just another peace of rubbish. PUB TEAM! MUFC WILL RISE AGAIN BUT YOU WONT ANYMORE. REST IN PEACE JUDAS!

Thats right red tom thumb. Be a good little customer and toddle off back to the United pages. You can help the other armchair fans dream up hypothetical wish lists of players that are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Wheres the Allstars XI match story MEN.

Is the next signing that FC United of Bury announces going to be the signing of Stuart Brennan? Or do they need to only report signings of players?

Only players or full time staff Tommy but again, thanks for your continued interest in all things FC.

Yesterdays All-stars XI match was a great success. Over 1000 turned up to enjoy a pre-match live Rock band, fair ground amusements and bouncy castle for the little urns. I was surprised to see former Everton, Bolton and England player Peter Reid playing. He might not be the hard tackling mid-fielder he used to be, but I notice he still likes to put the odd sly boot in now and again. In the second half about six FC fans got a game. Karl took off some of the FC players and gave fans a chance to play in return for a donation to the appeal fund. One of the fan-players even scored for FC! Although I think the lad had some previous experience at non-league level. He certainly didnt look out of place in a team as ran the right wing for the second half. What a great memory he got for himself and a good time had by all the others. Viva la revolution, come on FC.

Trafford United Soccer Club (TUSC) stopped being a Manchester club when they moved from Clayton nearly 100 years ago. City is the only team in Manchester. CTID.

FC ex United fans are no more than gravy train jibbers and Johnny-come-lately pot-hunters. Crudd will no doubt fit in well with his new mates.
