Schmeichel proved a huge hit for the Shakers in his loan spell towards the end of last season as Casper's side successfully fought against the drop to the Conference.
But City won't make any decision about Schmeichel's immediate future until pre-season begins, and that's too long to wait for Casper, who needs to sort out his No 1 spot, having released Neil Edwards and Craig Dootson last week.
Casper said: "I'd like Kasper Schmeichel back, if we could get him, but I've spoken to Stuart Pearce about it. They won't make a decision about him straight away, and I can understand that. They will probably leave it until pre-season. We need to know where we are going to go and you never know what you will get.
"I'd love to get him back. I'd swim the Channel to get him back here, but it's not my decision and there is nothing I can do about it.
"I can't leave it until the start of the season and I think City are right about this."
Casper feels that if City do let Schmeichel out on loan again, it won't be to a League Two club such as Bury.
He said: "City think he can play at a higher level, there's no question that he can do. I think they would let him out on loan, but they would want him to go and progress his career in the Championship or League One."

Schmeichel is a talent but he does need more first team action. I can see him going on loan a bit higher up than Bury with Hart playing in the reserves. The only thing that may go against Schmeichel in the long term is his lack of height...these days goalies are 6ft and above...Schmeichel is 5ft10.
Why not loan them Weaver??
A loan to preferably a CL-team, would do. One of the relegationbattlers to keep him busy as well.
Kasper's a bit of a softie compared to his dad. much, much too poor. It's a good job SP spotted that and went and bought the fantastic hart. Now he can offload Kasper if he wants. David James will be a fair reserve keeper... he's quite old now anyway...
KEEP THE BOY PLAYING - HE WILL ONLY LEARN HIS TRADE PLAYING -LEARN FROM S W P .
Is this on a loan or permanent deal does anybody know?, if I was SP then I would not sell him to anybody, maybe let him go on a 6 month loan or something, but definately NOT a permanent deal.
I Think a move back to Bury would be good for him, he seemed to enjoy it there and was getting regular first team football.
As a goal keeper i don't think it matters all that much which division he was playing in and in a poorer side he will get more practice. He sorted bury's defence out when he was there and played a big part in keeping them up.
I think kasper should be allowed to go to Bury again, shot stopping is the same in any division.I also think big clubs should help the smaller clubs if this is done at local level it will let fans see what future player are going to be like, most clubs blood youngsters at lower division clubs but they are usually not local.
