FC United planning a party

BREAKAWAY club FC United are ready to launch their promotion party at Gigg Lane on Wednesday night.

It is still mathematically possible that FC United could be pipped for the championship - if Nelson were to win all eight games in hand - but the title and a place in next season's North West Counties Football League First Division will be secured with a win over Chadderton.

Set up in the summer following Malcolm Glazer's takeover at Manchester United, FC United have taken the non-league scene and the NWCFL Second Division by storm, shattering a host of league records and attracting a staggering 4,328 for a home game against Winsford in January.

Karl Marginson's men have won 24 of their 32 games so far this season, scoring over 102 goals in the process, and currently top the table by 26 points.

However, while the celebrations will be in full swing if Chadderton are overcome, it appears Marginson will not be able to join the party.

"I was hoping to wangle the day off but one of the other lads is off, so it doesn't look like it will happen now," said Marginson, a grocery delivery driver, whose normal shift starts at 4am.

"Don't worry though. I can assure you I will make up for it."

Attendances are down as United rises. The die hards who boycotted are now scrambling for tickets back in to Old Trafford.

Well done to Karl, the Directors, the fans and the lads this season they have all made us all very proud of what has been achieved in such a short time. I hope that we can clinch promotion and the title as it will have been well deserved. Bring on United, bring on the Champions. Come, come now Schizo Malc aka the other free red (pool fan) and now red all over Manchester. Theres no need to go upsetting yourself again, just cos the projection of SU/MUST made 12 months ago about ticket prices going up to fifty pounds each in five years is all coming true. I dont want to have to say thousands of reds told you so, but - whoops I just said it. But look on the bright side, at least you have your TV and FC to watch. Your membership is looking a good investment. Im pleased youve saw the light, Hallelujah. Bring on Chaddy. Viva la revolution, come on FC.

To all FC Utd fans, congratulations on achieving promotion and for bravely supporting such a cause. However, if you are out to make some sort of statement ask yourselves exactly what you are trying to prove. To all those who now claim to support FC Utd rather than the one and only, a team should be supported through thick and thin. I am not a big fan of the Glazers and neither are many others, and even though our club may have been bought out by NFL loving Americans, I can wish my team nothing but continued success. We can leave the so called boycotting to the so called fans who think they can help the club by damaging it!

Utd4ever thanks for the comments but I don't want to get into a debate about abandoning United because I did n't. I searched my conscience and decided that I was given no choice as a 25 year ST holder. 2 Uniteds but the soul is one. Not one penny will I pay to Glazer. Good luck to MUFC in the future. FC is the place for me now and I'm sticking with it.

Utd4ever, UK. The money I save on not paying glazers debt goes into my MUST account. Thats where my love of United goes every month. So where does your love of United go. And dont give me any of that rubbish about fighting from within. From what I can see its just an excuse for giving up. DONT PAY GLAZER. Starve him of funds and he will have to go. Keep on paying glazer and most of you will be priced out in five years and substituted for more of the prawn sandwich brigade. He is the only problem and he wont go away without a shove. It doesnt matter which way you look at it, if he stays, the fans will be fleeced or priced out. But I guess you will learn the hard way or not at all. Mean time, I will be partying at FC. Viva la revolution, come on FC.
