Norton United 1 FC United 3

FC UNITED are ready to throw a promotion party if they beat Chadderton at Gigg Lane on Wednesday after leaving it late to beat Norton United 3-1 and place one hand firmly on the Moore and Co Solicitors League second division title.

Substitute Joz Mitten was the rebels' hero, first laying on Steve Torpey's 80th-minute winner and then forcing an own-goal clincher four minutes later.

Josh Howard had earlier given FC United a 26th-minute lead when he fired in their 100th league goal, but Mike Grice's 70th-minute equaliser had briefly silenced the large contingent of travelling fans in a crowd of 1,284 at Port Vale's Vale Park.

The win means Karl Marginson's men could now clinch promotion and even possibly be crowned champions if they overcome Chadderton and other results go their way.

Anything less and they might have to wait until a week on Wednesday.

Are FC equipped to cope in a higher division? Have your say.

We have a reserve team now which will be entered into the reserves league next year so yes, everything is in place to cope with the Division one. As for the match, Norton were great hosts taking us to a good ground, providing half time entertainment and speaking highly of us in the match day programme. Our opening goal was a bit stuffy being due to a goal keeping error, but then again so was their equaliser being down to a similar slip up. I didnt think there was much between the two teams on the day and perhaps a 1-3 away win flatters us a bit. Its not often you experience four seasons in 90 minutes. Rain, hail and snow followed by brilliant sunshine. At least it was clear at half time for the Norton junior team penalty shootout. As for United, great win against the Gooners. Unfortunately, things off the pitch are working out as predicted with the first instalment of Glazer ticket price hikes. At least they have adopted one good idea from FC United. Reducing ticket prices for kids, well in the family stand at least. So now a child ticket in the family stand costs as much as an adult ticket at Real Madrid another fans owned club. Hook em young then exploit them for the rest of their lives eh Glazer. Not my kids. Bring on Chaddy. Viva la revolution, come on FC.

FC UNITED

midfield and forward lines
should cope with division one, but the defence will need to be strengthened, often go a goal down and come back to win, not an easy thing to do against tougher competition.

A good win yesterday which means we can possibly clinch promotion at Gigg Lane on Wednesday against Chadderton providing results go our way. We looked solid throughout with Spencer having a stormer along with Torpey and Joz. We look good with the big man leading the line as he is a real handful for defenders. Carden looks to be playing his way back and what more can be said about the young Will Ahern? He never looks out of place, keeps things simple and uses the ball well. It was a long trip down and I got in just after kick off but it was well worth it. It??TMs been the best football season of my life and ranks with season 1998/99. This Club of ours has gone from nothing just under a year ago to something that means a lot for so many people. Let??TMs get right behind the boys in the final few games of the season. How about bring a mate for the final game against Padiham? New song was awesome. Directions to Division One anybody? 1284??? I'll have to check the figures, but could that possibly be the lowest attendence in recent FC memory? Couldn't be that the "die hard" FC fans were distracted with the real team playing the Gunners? If MUFC does catch Chelsea you might as well pack it up and fold the club.

Do keep up Tommy. The 1028 at Great Harwood was the lowest. If you're going to set yourself up as FC's number one critic you'll have to keep a closer eye on proceedings.

Depending on Nelson's results in the week, we could claim the title on Wednesday so come along to Gigg Lane and lets have a party.

1284 for an away game is more than some league clubs get for a home gate. Best away game since Blackers. Superb atmosphere with a real 90-90 from the FC end. Roll on Wednesday night when I hope we clinch the league.

Sorry to disappoint you tampa, but FCUoM is here to stay, no matter who wins the PL. To be honest, I am about as bothered about who wins the premier league as who is going out with my ex-wife. We have moved on, time you did too.

Yawn. So the pub team plan to celebrate in the most appropriate fashion in the pub. The massive ChelFCski stumble on to their rude awakening. You are a microscopic refraction of United. Money makes your tiny world go round. The revolution has seized up. Big fish in a very small droplet of rain.

I am an FC fan, I am Mancunian. You want directions to Div. 1. No problem mucker, the only way is up. Cant wait for the Chaddy game on Wednesday. If we win the title early I will not be fit for work on Thursday. Should be ok for Saturdays friendly though. Here we go again, more blah blah blah from Schitzo Malc aka the other free red. His TV must be on the blink or something. I bet he thinks hes Uniteds greatest fan now cos he went to a game on Sunday - bless.

Colin, I find it impossible that so many bitters like the FC United of Bury fans can tolerate wearing red during matches! Perhaps the club SHOULD change the kit for next season. A nice powder blue kit would suffice. With the past few months of MUFC match results so positive, it is no surprise the decline in popularity and credibility for FC United of Bury squad. No one likes to admit they were wrong, but I think in the deserters case, they were wrong. Even Gill was suspect of the Glazers, but he gave them a chance and now has seen the positive aspects of their owning the club. I assume Colin that you are a young impressionable lad and have fallen in with the wrong crowd. (FC United of Bury). Don't turn to the dark bitter blue side. Be more positive and optimistic AND HAPPY and support the real soul and club of Manchester, MUFC. It is a lot better than being bitter, pessimistic and sorrowful.

The Royton branch of the FC Supporters Club would like to advertise a vacancy. We are looking for someone to write offensive, derogatory e-mails about FC United and post them on the MEN site. The club places great importance on this position, for several reasons. Firstly, the more FC is attacked, the more determined our followers will be to continue with our ambitions; secondly, it is imperative that the supporters be made aware at all times of just what we have left behind; and thirdly, it will be extremely useful for our supporters to be reminded that the people we want to annoy, ARE being annoyed. The requirements for the post are simple. The prospective jobholder will have a grammatically-impoverished, semi-literate style. Therefore formal qualifications such as GCSE's and A-Levels will be a distinct disadvantage. The style which the jobholder will be required to use will be ranting, incoherent, and puerile. However, he or she will be required to have a smattering of knowledge (only a smattering, mind!) about such topics as Russian and Cuban history, economics and cod philosophy. The jobholder will possess great reserves of stamina, since he/she will be expected to pen numerous e-mails at all hours of the day and night and to keep sending these messages week after week, month after tedious month. Perhaps this would be a good moment to warn prospective applicants that the jobholder will have no social life whatsoever. The post will therefore suit a reclusive, misanthropic type of individual who shuns all forms of human contact. In addition to the above-mentioned duties, the jobholder will also be required to scour newspapers, magazines and websites in order to check on FC's attendance figures. If the figures are high, he/she will be required to dispute them and accuse the club of exaggerating. If, on the other hand, the figures are fairly low, the jobholder will believe the club and will then proceed to post gloating e-mails. The jobholder will not, at this stage, be required to analyse the contradictory nature of these two positions. Finally, the successful candidate will receive substantial help with removal expenses to Royton (or even further afield, in fact the further the better).

I think the job specification should include split personality with compulsion to use any number of names and addresses an advantage, as is ability to totally ignore reasoned argument and resort to puerile name calling in response

fc recruitment, Manchester. I nominate the tediously misinformed and out of touch with reality weirdo from Tampa. He/she has not only been representing themselves, but his altered ego the - Oh no, not the hopelessly boarding???yawn...Zzzzz Dash Walny (Andy Walsh anagram) again! I believe they have been inspirational to all doggedly determined, never give in, dont pay Glazers debts Reds everywhere. I mean to say, can you imagine having to sit next to such a person for 90 mins at OT. Phew, perish the thought. I think he/she deserves the job and definitely needs one. What a dump his/her town MUST be if he/she has nothing better to do. Thank heavens Im from Manchester, the greatest City on Earth. Ahhhh Manchester, birth place of league football. I could almost feel sorry for anyone from some southern states backwater - almost. Life is good, life in FC.

What about official "direction giver"??? Is that a paid position? What about official Cuban flag waver/holder/keeper? Via la FC United of Bury!

What! ??~Even Gill was suspect of the Glazers??TM Tommy you are talking complete tosh. Gill gets paid more money to be two faced than a small country,s GDP. Know one has been taken in by Gill and know one ever will. I have been to Fc games and if you understood just how determined the hardcore of Fc fans are you would not even consider encouraging them. They have nothing left to lose and will never stop. Worse for the Glazers they are just the visible tip of the iceberg. If you think you are standing up for MUFC then think again. You do not understand the mindset of the fans or the scale of the unrest. At best you are helping to make things worse.

If only to prove my point, let me quote a real Man U fan comment: Electrolite - as it happens, I am a season ticket holder but that's not the point. The point is that if you disagree with what the Glazers are doing, then simply withhold your business, just like you'd do with any other product or service. If you don't like it, don't buy it - it's as simple as that. All your wringing of hands and stamping of feet will get you precisely nowhere. The fact is that the vast majority of fans are self-evidently quite happy with the way that Glazer has run the club thus far. If that were not the case, then how would we manage to fill the ground week after week? IN GLAZER WE TRUST.
Adrian Kerridge, Urmston
12/04/2006 at 12:55 ............................. I agree with Adrian from Urmston completely. Okay if FC United of Bury has 1800 fans at a match, roughly 1000 or them have never been to a MUFC match or could name 4 men on the squad. Keep throwing your money at FC and the Feenicks Fund. Daddy needs a new pair of shoes.

I am heartily sick and tired of Tommy of Tampa trying to tell Mancunians where they should go, how they should feel and what they should do in their own city. You speak of wringing of hands and stamping of feet and so on. Well, don't you realise that exactly the same can be applied to you? Nobody has asked you onto this site, and nobody has asked for your opinion, so just calm down, stop throwing the toys out of the pram, and choose another site. This site is not about Glazer. For that you can go to the MUFC site. This site is about FC United and about people who have chosen a course of action out of their own free will.
