FC United maintained their relentless drive to the North West Counties second division title with a 2-0 win over New Mills.

A crowd of 1,952 at Hyde United's ground saw Joz Mitten set them on the way after 22 minutes.

Prolific goalscorer Rory Patterson sealed it with his 18th of the season just before the break to keep FC 24 points clear at the top, although nearest rivalsWinsford have played five games less.

Winsford may have games in hand, but United will not slip up now, the rewards for winning our 1st Trophy will see to that.

As for Saturdays game, it was little more than a kick about, New Mills were just there for the gate money. As for the Hyde announcer..was he a Headmaster in his previous life?
