Nelson 1 FC United 3

MANAGER Karl Marginson saluted a stunning double by Steve Torpey as FC United made it 16 wins out of 21 games at the top of the North West Counties League second division yesterday afternoon.

A crowd of 2,011 flocked to the Accrington Stanley ground to see Torpey seal the victory after Joz Mitten had sidefooted home a right-wing cross by Josh Howard after just three minutes.

United dominated play and the pressure was rewarded after 27 minutes when Torpey hit a left-foot shot from outside the box which screamed into the top corner of the net.

His next, on the stroke of half-time, was even more spectacular. He hit an unstoppable free-kick from the edge of the box which flew across the keeper and between the angle of the bar and post to take his total for the season to 12.

Pace

The goal put the game beyond Nelson's reach and the second half was an anti-climax, even though the home side never stopped trying for a goal. They were rewarded after 65 minutes when Barry George conceded a penalty for a trip and Paul Barrett placed the spot-kick just inside a post.

Marginson said: "Steve's second would have graced any ground in the world. The pace of the shot was amazing and it would have gone in if there had been 14 keepers there. He really got hold of it.

"We had a good first but then, with a 3-0 lead, we dropped off the pace a bit but I was pleased with the performance."

Marginson, whose next game is at home to Ashton Town next Saturday, was also delighted with the fact that around 1,800 United fans made the trip to Accrington, saying: "The pleasing aspect for me was that a lot of kids came up to watch live football on a Sunday afternoon."

S'funny we got the same scoreline but ours is better. Should be many more coming soon given what the big boys keep doing. Good result for us but wish the other lot had done better.

Great game on Saturday FC. That Leon Mike certainly knows how to throw his arrows. Can we borrow your sumo stars for our next home game. Pub Darts at its best!

Being the rabid FC fan that I am, I believe Squinty's first name is spelled B-A-R-R-I-E.

Great result this week! Good to see so many fans turn out during Derby weekend. I didn't think the wrestling holds that Nelson tried during the second half were very fair.

I also hear that Malcolm Glazer is going to spend 35 million this summer on transfers? Shouldn't he be using that cash to pay down the huge debt? Or building the new Buccaneers training facility?

I attended the festivities this past weekend. I have one word for the Nelson fans: SOAP.

free red, I actually beleive you on the someones impersonating me bit, because even you would not be that daft. You are encouraging these urine takers bill, tampon, and malc to post, forget the direction no one follows them and the north west counties website has all the other info ie. fixtures results.I am sure your heart is in the right place but its a pity your brain isnt. ps we need 6-7 players for back to back promotions/

Well said Fred. Personally I am not so sure that Free Red isn't daft enough to go and provoke United fans. His tone is always sanctimonius and his patronising directions (as if no one else can find their way to the ground is a little like the boy scout trying to prove he's important). As for proving a fans legitimacy by the level of detail recalled from the match here's your proof Free Red. Torpey scored the second with about 15 minutes to go, following Orrs goal. Ashton played in blue and their keeper had a great game. Oh and by the way United beat Liverpool.

Raymond Jones, Alkrington there is certainly no need for that patronising tone against a fellow FC supporter. It looks like the fake yanks are getting to you.

That fellow that says he's from Alkrington, well he isn't. He's really Malcolm in disguise, having a go at someone, who, as far as I'm aware, has not gone out of his way to insult anyone, except in self-defence. How do I now? Well, it's obvious. Just as he always decides (whatever name he chooses to write under) to refer to Johnniejohn as a PE teacher, he also likes to use the reference to scouts in this particular instance. Why has he stopped writing under the name Malcolm? Well, seeing as how there are only two obsessives out there, it comes across as a teeeeeeny bit neurotic, doesn't it? But this way he can fantasise about hordes of anti-FC protestors marching boldly under his banner. But that's all it is, Malcolm ... a fantasy. Oh and before you say it, at least the FC fantasy is going places.

fred, langley - I was asked for directions and other posters have requested them on several occasions. The only person that has objected is TOMMY. There have been times when I have been the only fan who posts on MEN FC United stories. Check out the Darwen article. Perhaps if other FANS posted more often I would be able to take a view on their comments. Or perhaps Malc and Tommy should be allowed to have this site all to themselves and just use it as their own personal tool to spread lies. My heart is in the right place and so is my brain. I could say my intelligence levels are far superior to that of Malc and Tommy, but that wouldnt be difficult bearing in mind theirs are lower than a single cell organism. Incidentally, I posted my feedback on the game off the cuff from memory and not from information gleamed from another website. The actual times of the goals were Orr 21 Crompton 22 Torpey 73. I dont think my guestimation was that bad when you allow for added on time. I could have mentiond that both teams finised the game down to ten men. Looks like Raymond aka Tommy/Malc cant read a score sheet if he thinks Adie Orr scored second. I guess this is the closest multiple post mames will come to admitting to being the other Free Red.

As much as I hate whats going on at Fc and will never quite understand the logic behind it , I must come to the defence of Free Red as certain people in the past have been impersonating him and posting msg's on the Bury pages to stir up more arguements.

Thanks Paul Bury. I dont really have a problem with ABFcU,s. If we were in the same division I would enjoy the banter. Its those who set out to deceive and cause friction between fans that I cant be done with. I look out for Burys results now and noticed you lost 3-1 to Boston. I hope you win your three games in hand.

Free Read you are becoming more and more pathetic as you try to defend your self. As for your reading ability I suggest you spend less time reading maps. For your information I actually wrote "Torpey scored the second with about 15 minutes to go, following Orrs goal". Illiterate as well as brain dead. Dib dib dob dob. Boy souts honour Scout Master..

B.S. One things for sure you are neither from Newton Heath or Manchester. I think you are either the guy from Tunbridge or Free Red with his map reading obssessions. As for patronising Free Red, Eric he's the patronising one and if he wants to take it further I am sure we can "discuss" it man to man the next time he actually attends a game.

Report This Reply

Now Mr Raymond. How the heck would you know if I was from Newton Heath or Tunbridge Wells or anywhere else? Do you have a picture in your mind's eye of how a Mancunian is supposed to articulate his or her ideas? Might they express themselves in the manner of Les Battersby.... or Neville Cardus? Albert Tatlock ... or Alistair Cooke? Something to do with the spelling, maybe? Or the punctuation, perhaps? Quite possibly the grammar, eh? After all, anybody who writes "neither .... or" must be an expert on grammar. I mean you must know something, otherwise you'd be guilty of mere .... prejudice, and that would never do, would it? No, you can rest assured I was born and raised in Manchester, not too far from the old Wilson's Brewery Wagon Depot on Thorpe Road. Used to have an uncle who lived in Alkrington, actually. Just near the Roebuck. Do you know where that is?

Well said Paul from Bury. Raymond Jones you are a fake. Put your handbag away it??TMs just not worth it. Free red keep up the service mate

Great result for the real team v. Lpool. I am only posting to move this FC train up in the user comments page. I guess Free Red and Eric were at the Liverpool game and are too drunk to post still. Apparently, when the real team is playing well no one pays attention to FC. The novelty is dying quickly I see as the bandwaggoners are starting to realize the Glazers are doing an outstanding job with the club. They work behind the scenes just like they do with the Buccaneers. And when the 35 million gets spent this summer there will be less and less reason to even give FC three sentences in the MEN. I can hear them now, denying that they ever heard of Gigg Lane. FC What? I've been a Red my whole life. I never gave up on MUFC when the Glazers bought the team, I just roughed it out and I KNEW that they would win the Premiership in 2006-07. I am going to throw down my stone-cold-lead-pipe lock for 06-07. MUFC will win Champions League and all those supposed SOUL OF MANCHESTER fans will be right back at Old Trafford, claiming that "they" never left. Why doesn't FC United wear Red kits with a big Yellow strip down the back? That would make more sense.

Raymond Jones, Alkrington. I think you are the one with a reading problem. Torpeys scored the third with about 15 minutes to go, following Cromptons goal. Adie Orr scored first! Has the penny dropped yet? Check your results sheet. There is nothing more pathetic than someone trying to defend a point they should concede.

Tommy I refuse to get drawn into mindless debates with you as I have done in the past but for your information I donbTMt go to Old Trafford anymore. I nailed my colours to the mast when I bought a season ticket for FC United. WhatbTMs your opinion on David Gill comments on the season ticket prices? B#494 to B#650 (including whoopy do b" 6 cup games). In my book thatbTMs a rise of over 30%. I will never give Glazer a penny. I can give you a match report on the FC games if you wish because I actually (like Free Red) go to them. By the way we are playing at Accrington on Sunday b" do you want directions? Over to you Free Red.

All that map reading must be getting to you BS and I do believe you are becoming quite paranoid. As for someone called Eric from Bradford he seems to have cornered the market in being a fake. In fact he's a little fakir. Being fake appears to underscore being an FC "fan". Is it a prerequisite?Do you all have fake tans, wear snide clothes and fake rolexes and of course there is the fake kit. Now we have established what the F in FC stands for lets work on the C shall we. I have a few clues already on that one. Oh by the way Mr map reader, the Roebuck is on Kirkway. I lived on Grimshaw Lane before I moved to a place near Kitchen Wood. Know them?

So Eric, the pick and mix names wants to meet you man to mouse. I heard they had a rodent problem at OT. Have you any information on which teams from step 5 NWCFL Div. One will be transferred to the new step 4 division? This could work to our advantage if clubs like of Salford City or Curzon Ashton move on along with Skelmersdale United or Alsager Town, one of whom will probably win NWCFL Div. One. With only one promotion place currently available, Div. one is a real bottleneck.

Eric, certainly Sir. GREAT HARDWOOD TOWN v. FC UNITED: The game will be played this Sunday 29th January 2006, at Accrington Stanley FC. K.O. 2.00pm. DIRECTIONS: Take the M65 signposted for Blackburn/Burnley. Exit Jnt. 7 and follow the signs for Padiham. Turn right at the first traffic lights and right again at the next. Follow Whalley Road towards Accrington and the ground is behind the Crown Public House. Happy to help.

ALkrington is no more in Manchester as Bury is, what is paranoid is the insistence on the badge utd 'of manchester' talk bout tryin to prove a point. You're no neare being from manchester now than when you were bandwaggonin it at stretford rangers.Risible efforts, lads.

Free Red. Plain to see. you are a moron. FC scored two. Torpey scoring the second. I suggest you stick to map reading old boy. Toot toot. How about some directions so that BS can get to Manchester from Tunbridge?Beep beep.

Report This Reply

Raymond, or is it Malc again now. I cant believe this, try reading your post again. I know FC scored two, I was there! You wrote, and I quote. Torpey scored the second with about 15 minutes to go, following Orrs goal. WRONG! Torpey scored the third and final goal of the game, following the second goal by Ashton Towns Crompton. Adie Orr scored the first goal of the game and it doesnt matter how belligerent you want to be, you cant change the simple fact that Torpeys goal did NOT follow Orrs. Its moronic trying to argue that it did. You will be telling me youre an FC fan next. At least youve found a new topic of conversation.

Report This Reply

Now read this very carefully Free Red. Moving your finger along so that you can follow each word. FC scored two ok? Torpey scored the second. Its usual in a game of football ( I appreciate you have only recently started going to games) to count the goals scored by each side. That way we get to determine if a team wins, loses or draws. A second goal for FC won the match for them. Of course you can count all of the goals in a game but its a bit pointless unless you are trying to emulate John Motson or Statto. Stick to giving directions.

Ray, aka malc, aka the other free red, alias Smith! - Absolute BULL. It just goes to show that youre just another member of the television viewing audience. According to your post, the score would be 2-0. You make things up as you go along and twist your own words rather than concede a point of FACT. Based on its own merits, your original post is WRONG! You just dont have the bottle to admit to being wrong. I always said you were a spineless coward and this proves it. Stick to watching TV as you admitted to last weekend. It was 4.00pm Sunday this weekend as well. I trust you found the right page in your TV listings all by yourself this time.
