Bury: Whaley not cheap

SOUGHT-after midfielder Simon Whaley will not leave Bury on a cut-price deal.

That is the view of Shakers director Iain Mills, who is unhappy that clubs have become aware of a clause in the player's contract which allows him to leave for a certain fee.

"Clubs are tabling bids at exactly that amount, which is very suspicious," said Mills. "So as far as Bury are concerned, that fee no longer stands."

Whaley turned down a £300,000 move to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in November.
