STEVE Torpey's hat-trick sent FC United into the North West Counties Division Two Trophy quarter-finals as the Rebels turned on the style in the driving rain at Macclesfield's Moss Rose.
Karl Marginson's men will play either Blackpool Mechanics or Eccleshall at home in the next round at a date to be arranged after their 5-0 victory over New Mills.
Marginson paid tribute to left-winger Torpey and to right-sided former Manchester United youth team captain Josh Howard, who tormented the Millers all day.
Torpey's hat-trick was sandwiched between goals from Simon Carden and one from former Macc striker Phil Power.
"We had Torpey on the wing and at the moment he is going to cause people problems with the form he is in," said Marginson.
"He was fantastic. Apart from his goals there was his work rate and his closing down. The players have gone out and done what I've asked them to do. I asked them to get on the front foot and go and close people down all over the park and they have done it."

Another comfortable win against New Mills. Blackpool away would have been good, but either Blackpool Mechanics or Eccleshall at home will do nicely for the next round. Other results in the League Div. 2 Trophy. 1st Round: Nelson 0 - 2 Blackpool Mechanics. Norton United 1 - 2 Oldham Town. 2nd Round: Castleton Gabriels 3 - 4 Flixton. Darwen 2 - 0 Cheadle Town. Leek CSOB 0 - 5 Winsford. Padiham 1 - 3 Great Harwood Town. Next up a league game v. Castleton Gabriels at Gigg lane on Saturday. Chance to give Frodo the rib again! Viva la FCUM.
Can't wait for the Gabriels match!! I have fond memories of viewing the pictures from their first meeting with the former Church team. Get done with church services, go to station wagon, change into play clothes and get on the pitch!
My favorite player on the Gabs is good ole #6. Really Old. Really Fat. Really Slow. The Trifecta of athletic talent. He can cover a 40 yard dash in only 18.3 seconds I understand, but only with a Pasty sitting at the finish line.
Here FCUM fans, I, Tommy Tampa, your grand benefactor will do you a great service here, sung to any tune you want really: Ole #6, he is fat and smelly, Ole #6 has got a big belly. Ole #6, his hair is a little gray, Ole #6 he's too slow to play. Ole #6 is the fatty on the post, Ole #6 is the Gab we love the most!!
Good Old numbeeeeeeerrrr 6!!
Tommy judging by the amount of traffic and comment on this site I thoought you would have noticed that the majority of us have literally moved on as we were getting a bit fed up of this kind of thing. Maybe you could do the same. Thanks
FC played some fantastic football. Really great to watch
