Roger Johnson's 88th-minute goal secured victory for Wycombe in Cumbria while Orient dropped to third following a game which saw the visitors' John Mackie sent off in the 56th minute.
Orient slipped to third while Grimsby moved up to second with a 3-2 win at Oxford which saw Andy Parkinson score first for the Mariners after just three minutes.
Scott Fitzgerald equalised for Oxford six minutes into the second half but the Grimsby cause was helped by Chris Hackett's foul on Andy Parkinson in the 58th minute, for which he was red-carded.
